MODULE AIMS

ENG01 is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to ensure that they acquire English language competency that will enable them to progress to Foundation 2.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Use various language learning techniques and contextualized instructions in all skills.
Interpret different accents, texts, and details through short dialogues, information, and real-life events orally and in writing e.g., size, shape, color, likes, and dislikes.
Explain vocabulary and abbreviations independently/in groups, using common correct sentence forms introduced in class to formal and informal situations.
Analyze short information and reconstruct meaningful sentences verbally and in writing within the specific time.
Predict topics, main idea, and gist of simple written text/Verbal information and develop sentences using basic linking words in cohesion.
Use basic sentence forms and vocabulary for information in first and third person in a descriptive and process writing paragraph/ conversation of 100 words.
Present simple written and verbal sentences and texts in the form of questions, answers, presentations, dialogues, etc.
Identify basic written and verbal subject matter on familiar topics in all the skills of the language, using elementary-level grammar and vocabulary.
Demonstrate coherent spoken and written comprehensions of different situations, in relevant fundamentals of the language structure.
Discuss and exchange information on familiar themes in groups/pairs/individually in a basic grammatical form to complete a given task.

MODULE AIMS

F2 English Language Module is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to ensure that they acquire English language competency commensurate to IELTS 5 and above band category.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Comprehend and interpret the meaning of written texts on topics of study.
Skim and scan authentic, unfamiliar texts on topics related to prior knowledge or personal interests; locate main and supporting details and draw inferences.
Apply knowledge of vocabulary associated with topics of study in new contexts.
Describe, orally and in writing, the physical attributes and behaviours of people, and the physical attributes, functions and composition of objects.
Develop well-organized oral and written texts to suggest probable causes and means to achieve specific ends.
Structure cohesive essays or reports, each having references a bibliography.
Synthesize and summarize information, orally and in writing, from one to three pages of expository text within the specific
Interact with peers and adults in a variety of situations, using appropriate levels of formality.
Engage in discussions with others about ideas, emotions, interests and experiences.
Take and organize notes of longer-length academic lectures and informal listening passages using a variety of appropriate outlining techniques.

F3 English Language Module is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to ensure that they acquire English language competency commensurate to IELTS 5 and above band category.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Critically analyze and infer oral and written language thorough knowledge of academic materials in form of speech, presentation, academic writing for varied audiences.
Identify the topics, main idea and information of complex texts and create coherent and cohesive sentences using advanced linking words.
Implement complex vocabulary and abbreviations independently thus generating integrated core content.
Determine and reflect variety of advanced accents, texts and illustrate extended dialogues, information, real life events orally and in writing e.g., social problems.
Summarize detailed information through research and reconstruct organized meaningful sentences in oral and written work within the specific time.
Create independent written and verbal ideas, opinions, notes, personal/Academic texts through critical thinking, identifying errors by reasoning and logical analysis.
Exhibit evidence of research skills through complex sentences in form of comparisons, opinions, persuasive arguments, data analysis in four- five paragraphs / 250 words, written/oral.
Use compound-complex sentence structure and accurate grammatical forms to write / present formal and informal texts, formulate various literary forms.
Evaluate texts, audio clips and writing of various genres, present ideas and results logically.
Demonstrate comprehensive grasp of the language skills through a wide range of oral, written, and aural tasks and activities with advanced efficacy.
