On Tuesday the 24th of May 2022, two students from the Foundation Department of ICEM took part in a debate competition hosted by the Global College of Engineering and Technology, Muscat. Seven colleges participated in the keenly contested competition with the theme ‘Social Media Does More Harm Than Good’. The two students who represented ICEM are Hiba Hamood Rahsid Al-Maqbali (H21000149) who argued on the negative side and Al Shaimaa Khamis Ali Hashil Al Yaarubi (H21000251) who took the affirmative standpoint. The debate was quite heated with all the participating students oozing so much confidence and enthusiasm. At the end of the competition, winners and first runners-up were presented with prizes while all the participants were given certificates of participation. Ms. Abeer Fawzi and Mr. Joseph Emenyeonu accompanied the students to the competition with many other Foundation students who trooped out in their numbers to support their colleagues. Receiving the students, The HoD, Dr. Fawziya Al Zadjali thanked them for accepting to represent the college in the competition and congratulated them on their stellar performance. She harped on the need for students to take part in extra-curricular activities. She equally thanked the Students’ Support Services Department for making necessary arrangements for the competition.
