PF English Language Module is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to ensure that they acquire English language competency that will enable them progress to Foundation 1.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Connect oral language with print; read short, simple sentences, stories and collaboratively-written reports.

Identify the topics of short, simple texts.

Apply vocabulary introduced in class to limited, new situations; recognize and use common abbreviations.

Describe, orally and in writing, the physical attributes of everyday objects; e.g., size, shape, colour.

Develop sentences to explain simple cause and effect relationships, using basic linking words.

Develop short, written reports on topics discussed in class.
-
Summarize, orally and in writing, a short, simple narrative within the specific time.

Express and respond to informal oral greetings with peers.

Respond orally to questions about activities of self, family and friends.

Take notes using a partial outline of short listening passages.
SCHEDULED LEARNING AND TEACHING ACTIVITY
Internally developed study materials will be provided based on the required topics. Students will undertake two sessions per week combining lectures and tutorials to cover the general module content.
ASSESSMENT METHODS
The method of assessment for this module has been designed to test all the learning outcomes. Students must demonstrate successful achievement of these learning outcomes to pass the module.
MODULE PASS REQUIREMENTS

The passing marks for each component tested will be 50%.

To pass this module, students must achieve an overall grade of at least 25 % or above in both midterm and final exams.
